The SplitStop Fascia Screw installation kit creates an oversized pilot hole in composite fascia material, thus preventing buckling and oil-canning—as well as broken screws—due to expansion and contraction. The manufacturer says 65 screws are enough to install 60 linear feet of fascia. You’ll also need a fascia bit, sold separately. Use a drill/driver with torsion adjustment settings to drive the screws, setting the torsion adjustment to stall when the screw is flush with the surface. Screws come in six colors—cedar, gray, redwood, white, hickory, and dark brown—so they can be coordinated with decking. There’s a color-coordination guide on the company’s website.
