A partnership between the organization Prevent Blindness America and Honeywell’s Uvex brand of safety eyewear, the recently created Eye2Eye initiative aims to improve workplace eye safety. As a Web-based educational resource, Eye2Eye trains employees to communicate with one another about the importance of eye health and safety, increase eye safety compliance, and build a stronger workplace safety culture.
“Eye2Eye is a breakthrough approach to improving workplace safety,” says JoAnne Goldman, Uvex brand manager for Honeywell Safety Products. “Based on years of research and input directly from the field, we have created a unique, peer-to-peer learning and information platform to encourage optimum eye-safety practices among safety directors and employees. We believe that the widespread adoption of Eye2Eye will result in a dramatic decrease in workplace eye injuries and an improved culture of safety across industries.”
Uvex and Prevent Blindness America began research for the program in 2009 by surveying 200 safety directors around North America. The resulting peer-to-peer program gives participants an opportunity to become certified Eye2Eye Safety Ambassadors. Safety Ambassadors gain access to the program’s online training modules and receive product samples and prizes provided by Uvex.
A one-year Eye2Eye membership costs $250 and includes online access for up to five employees. Prevent Blindness America | 800.331.2020 | eye2eyeprogram.com
