In universal design, the built environment should suit everyone both young and old.
With so many factors to consider, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), which offers a Universal Design Certified Professional certificate, developed a handy checklist for remodelers.
Originally intended for entrants in its Contractor of the Year (CotY) design awards, the checklist is now available to anyone for free at nari.org/awards/universaldesign.
Tracy Wright, NARI’s director of special projects, says the list is based on a list originally created by the University of Iowa.
