Bosch Power Tools is partnering with the software company ToolWatch to prevent tool theft. ToolWatch Express is designed to reduce the incidence of theft on the jobsite by holding employees accountable for the tools they use.
Bosch is selling the ToolWatch Express product under the Digital Power Tool line of tools through its distribution network.
After applying an identifier to a tool, a company can track its location by jobsite or by employee. In the same way the library tracks books, companies can track tools, scanning them in and out of a tool crib.
Additionally, ToolWatch allows companies to collect enormous amounts of information about each tool in its inventory by using such unique identifiers as bar codes and portable scanning devices to deliver tool information to a desktop computer system.
