I’ve had my share of refinishing tasks that went horribly, labor-intensively wrong—mostly doors that were “rescued” from the trash or old-house attic for remodels that required an offbeat blend of materials.
I've tried anything and everything from chemicals (didn’t work) to heat (melted the paint, also didn’t work), grinders (see previous item, heat) and hand scrapers (worked great, but brutal physically).
Then, in my Facebook feed: Metabo’s LF 724 paint removal tool.
The best video I found for it is in another language, but it shows the tool in action. One commenter said it gummed up quickly. However, it gets high marks in this TOOLS review from 2009. The model number seems to be the same and the tool not significantly changed.
If you’ve got some paint you don’t want any longer, it’s worth a look.
