Ridgid recently announced a new line of 12 commercial/industrial-grade wet/dry vacs. The smallest has a 4-gallon tank and the largest a 16-gallon tank. All are said to have more powerful motors (by up to 24%) than the brand’s previous top-of-the-line models. Among the more interesting tools in the new line are the 1650RV, Smart Pulse RV3410, and RV2400HF (RRP/HEPA rated).
All are higher-end Ridgid models than can usually be found at Home Depot. I asked the PR person where they will be sold and was told they’re available from “Ridgid Distributors in the United States and Canada”. The RV2400HF is currently listed on the Home Depot website; the other two models are not. This is a brand new line so it might take a while for every model to become readily available. I was able to find the 1560RV and RV3410 on Amazon and a few supply houses that sell online.
The 1650RV is the first-ever vac to have a Motor-on-Bottom (MOB) design; the motor is below the drum/tank instead of above it (video below). This makes for a lower center of gravity and a vac that is less likely to tip when you pull on the hose.
A foot-activated power switch allows for quick, hands-free operation and the detachable drum makes it easy to empty debris. Items that won’t fit through the hose can be dropped into the tank through a hatch on the top. The vac is equipped with a handle and wheels and includes a 10-foot Pro Hose that can be bent 180 degrees without kinking. The included wands and accessory tools store on the machine.

The Smart Pulse RV3410 has dual self-cleaning filters so it can be successfully used to collect the very fine dust generated by sanding drywall or grinding and cutting concrete. The two filters are monitored by an integrated sensor. When the sensor detects a difference in pressure the vac automatically cleans the filters by reversing the flow of air through one and then the other. The two-stage high-lift motor is said to have an average life of 700+ hours.

The RV2400HF is a 14-gallon two-stage industrial wet/dry vacuum. According to its maker, the vac has “Certified HEPA Filtration and meets EPA's definition of a HEPA vacuum under RRP rule for lead paint renovations.” The unit has three stage filtration when equipped with the included washable fabric filter cover (0.5 microns), HEPA filter (0.3 microns), and high-efficiency filter bag.
The included tools store on the machine and the top handle doubles as a cord wrap. The hose clips onto the unit and won’t accidentally come off. The two-stage high-lift motor is said to have an average life of 700+ hours.
