In a traipse through Home Depot today, the crimson red Toolology calendar caught my eye.

At first, I didn’t know what it was, just that it had the word “tool” in it and so does my job.

As I realized it was a hang-on-the-wall calendar, my lack of interest rose in direct proportion to it not being on my phone. But then the detail of the drawings on the cover caught my eye.

They’re beautiful.

Throw-back pen and ink pre-computer drafting of ironclad old versions of the tools we use every day.

It wasn’t until I was back at my desk deciding whether or not to write about it when I noticed the caption: The Table Saw—A large stationary power tool commonly used to launch wood projectiles at the speed of light across the room.

HA! Got me.

I don’t know what all the other captions say (but I do know you can find some sweet push sticks in this video), but I know I’d spend time with the drawings were it hanging on my wall—air compressor, pipe cutter, circ saw. And I know I’d be in good company because only someone who has seen a hickory missile flying through the shop could write that.

It’s an 18-month calendar and costs $15.
