Job-site safety is everyone's responsibility. But despite everyone's
best planning, accidents still happen. When they do,
the actions you take in the first few minutes can ease the
victim's suffering, speed recovery, and even save a life.
In a short article like this, I can share a few tips from my experience
as a paramedic responding to emergency calls before I
became a doctor. But I can't train you in first aid. No magazine
article is a substitute for good first-aid training. So my first tip is,
get yourself and your people trained in lifesaving skills and first
aid. Training courses are available virtually everywhere, are inexpensive,
and usually take
