Due to lock-down efforts in many areas to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, construction sites are being shut down all over the country. Because abandoned and unprotected construction sites pose a fire risk to the community, the American Wood Council is offering a free webinar with guidance on how builders can leave their construction site as reasonably fire safe as possible. Based on compliance with Chapter 33 of the 2018 International Fire Code, Chapter 33 of the 2018 International Building Code, and NFPA Standards 1 and 241, the webinar will focus on the following:

  1. Identify risks & hazards on constructions sites. Focus on hazards that can occur during the shutdown
  2. Apply model codes and standards that pertain to safety precautions during construction
  3. Identify best practices regarding housekeeping, equipment, flammable and combustible materials, and other hazardous activities on construction sites
  4. “Light’s Out" Plan, identify steps to take before shutting down the site to ensure fire safety

The not-for-credit webinar is scheduled for two times on Monday, March 30, 2020: from 10:55 am - 12:00 pm Eastern and from 1:55 pm - 3:00 pm Eastern. For more information or to register, click here for the morning session and here for the afternoon session.
