This year, the Remodeling Show returns to one of its most popular venues — the Baltimore Convention Center, located on the revitalized Inner Harbor.
This year's Show, which is owned and operated by our publisher Hanley Wood, LLC, is expected to attract more than 10,000 remodelers, replacement contractors, and home improvement professionals from around the country. The Show floor will house more than 350 manufacturers in more than 100,000 net square feet of exhibits.
Online Housing and Travel Making travel arrangements is a piece of cake at the official Remodeling Show Web site, www.theremodelingshow.com. You can book a room at one of several hotels near the Convention Center using the hotel descriptions, photos, and maps offered on the Web site. Special pricing for Show attendees ranges from $158 to $194 per night. Online travel discounts are also available for American Airlines, Continental Airlines, and US Airways flights into Baltimore-Washington International airport (BWI) and Washington National Airport (DCA), as well as for Amtrak and Avis car rental.
By the time you read this, the site will also contain a complete list of all educational seminars, on-floor demonstrations and clinics, and after-hour events, plus a new comprehensive search function that will make it possible to not only register online but to plan activities, hour by hour. A Show Specials page will also list products and discounts offered by Show exhibitors.
Continuing Ed Remodeling Show seminars qualify for Continuing Education Units for the American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Institute of Building Designers (AIBD), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA).
As always, classes required to earn and maintain the NAHB Remodelors Council CGR designation will also be listed online, as well as times for two PREP assessments. Two courses will also be offered toward the Remodelors Council's CAPS designation.
Replacement Contractors Welcome For the first time in its history, the Remodeling Show will include a six-session educational track designed for replacement specialists. The lineup includes Richard Kaller on selling, Grant Mazmanian on hiring a sales team, Ken Moeslin on working with suppliers, Steve Rennekamp on building referrals, Phil Rea on closing, and a four-remodeler panel on the state of the sunroom industry. This track is offered as a stand-alone package and requires separate registration, which is also available online.
Bring Your Crew In addition to the 20-plus technical demos and clinics on the exposition floor, the educational program at this year's Show will contain eight sessions designed specifically for field personnel. Speakers include Andy Hannan on production systems, Shawn McCadden on eliminating punch lists, Craig Deimler on scheduling, Mike Weiss on the paper trail, Brindley Byrd on dust control, Dana Bres and Marie DelBianco on durability, and Michael Stone on change orders.
