Jasper and Amanda Warden sheltered in their shower on May 20 as an EF-5 tornado "tore their home apart piece by piece," Oklahoma City TV station KFOR (NewsChannel 4) reports. Now, the couple is rebuilding — this time, with insulating concrete forms (ICFs). (For the full KFOR report, see: "Recovering from the storms: Building a tornado-resistant home," by Ali Meyer.)

The house, built with a system from Nudura Integrated Building Technology, has 4-inch-thick reinforced concrete walls. According to the KFOR report, it was the first ICF house for the Wardens' builder, Richardson Homes. More than a thousand houses were destroyed in the May tornado.
