Brick Veneer Concerns To the Editor: Authors Cowie and Wilson clearly illustrate the results of improper design and construction of brick veneer backed by steel studs ("Brick Veneer and Steel Studs: Performance Questions," 4/91). The problems they document are, perhaps, exacerbated by the severe climate exposure in the Maritime Provinces of Canada. However, such occurrences are not new to the Brick Institute of America. We have been concerned about this construction system since it was introduced and we are not alone in this concern. Brick veneer and steel studs may not be the best wall system available, but other factors often lead to its use. Our literature, referenced by the authors, is an attempt to improve the performance of this wall system. We feel
