As referenced in the story “Making Sense of Spray Foam and Ignition Barriers,” several open-cell foams have been approved for the ICC-ES for use without an ignition barrier in sealed attics and crawl spaces.
Other manufacturers are likely to introduce similar products in the near future. Among them is the Arlington, Texas foam producer Demilec USA, which plans to begin marketing its ignition-barrier-free APX foam by mid-February of 2012
