Heat Seeking
One of the most important diagnostic tools in the building-forensics toolbox is an infrared camera. Flir's 1 1/4-pound BCAM SD displays surface temperatures in color on a 31/2-inch LCD viewfinder; the images can be stored as JPG files on an SD data card, much as with a traditional digital camera. Infrared cameras are a great way to "see" insulation and moisture problems without destructive testing. The camera costs about $6,800. Flir Systems, 800/464-6372. www.goinfrared.com
