Kinetico's Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier, available for residential application, uses a seven-stage, multi-barrier process to remove bacteria, viruses, and protozoa from drinking water. The drinking water system is the only residential water purifier that is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation International, Underwriters Laboratory, the Water Quality Association, and BioVir Laboratories to remove greater than 99.99999% of bacteria, greater than 99.999% of protozoa, and greater than 99.99% of viruses from water.
According to Kinetico's David Krupinski, what makes Purefecta unique is that it combines reverse osmosis and membrane barrier technologies. "The physical barrier prevents bacteria, viruses, and protozoa from getting into the water that homeowners drink," Krupinski says.
The seven-stage process begins with a pre-filter that reduces larger particles and sediments as small as one-sixteenth the diameter of a human hair. A reverse osmosis membrane removes heavy metals, compounds, and cysts. Contaminants are then flushed as water molecules pass through the system. A 0.02 micron virus filter eliminates any viruses, then water is stored in a non-corrosive, self-circulating tank until it is needed. When the lead-free faucet is tapped, the water passes through a carbon block post-filter that removes any remaining tastes, odors, and VOCs, then through an 0.02 bacteria filter.
The Purefecta system can be easily plumbed into a home's drinking water system to deliver purified water to kitchen and bath faucets, as well as refrigerator water dispensers. The Purefecta Drinking Water Purifier is the only residential water purification system certified to remove bacteria, viruses, and microbes.
