Light the Way. Clamp meters let electricians measure current in a live wire without stripping the insulation or touching the conductor, but the calculator-like display can be hard to read in dark basements or outside in the sun. With that in mind, Milwaukee has introduced a model with a bright white-on-black display that it says is easier to see in both dim and bright settings. The device has a noncontact voltage detector embedded in its jaws for determining if a wire is live, and an LED work light. It comes in separate hvac and electrical versions and costs $229.
