Zonda released the JLC Brand Use Study, which measures the attitudes of remodelers and residential general contractors toward the products they recognize, use, and trust.
The survey generated responses from 1,132 residential general contractors, remodeling contractors, and replacement (windows, doors, siding and decks) contractors across the U.S. about brand-use practices and perspectives for 59 building product categories.
Respondents were asked to share which building products they are the most familiar with, which brands they have used the most, and which they consider to be the highest quality. Across all product categories, product performance and availability are the top two reasons for choosing a building material brand, followed by ease of installation and warranty.
Product price is only the fifth most important reason respondents gave for choosing a building product. That said, price does rank as the second most important reason residential contractors are persuaded to switch brands, with inventory levels being the top reason.
