The winners of this year's REMODELING Design Awards showcase the best in residential and light commercial remodeling. From a beach house to a contemporary addition to an urban in-fill, these projects highlight the work of talented design and construction teams. Our distinguished panel of judges met at REMODELING's Washington, D.C., offices and chose 15 winners from more than 175 entries. Besides the Best of the Year, they chose 5 grand, 5 merit, and 4 honorable mention awards. Almost all the homeowners of the winning projects wanted to add space without sacrificing style. Another common theme was the desire to create a connection between indoor space and the outdoors. The judges agree that the primary strength of all the winning projects is their design teams' ability to decide on a concept and then rigorously carry that concept through from design to construction.
