The winners of the 2006 REMODELING Design Awards showcase the best in residential and light commercial remodeling across the country. From an island house addition to a log house update to a paint factory renovation, these projects highlight the work of talented design and construction teams.
We received more entries this year than we have received in the past five years. The six judges worked hard to review the 238 entries, debating and discussing the details and features of each before deciding on the winners. The distinguished panel recognized 19 winners in all. But, it's the transformation of a bland suburban New York 1950s-era house into a modern structure that embraces the outdoors that earns the Best of the Year award. In addition to the Best of the Year, the judges chose five grand, six merit, and seven honorable mention awards.
