The 2016 Remodeling Design Awards are officially open for entries, and four experienced industry professionals have been selected as judges to consider this year’s submissions:

Karman Hotchkiss is the executive editor for shelter-related magazines at Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications. Her portfolio of nearly 50 issues per year includes consumer-focused magazines such as Kitchen & Bath Ideas, Do It Yourself,Refresh, and Before & After.

Cary Bernstein is principal of Cary Bernstein Architect in San Francisco, which opened in 1995, and an adjunct professor of architecture at the California College of the Arts. Cary Bernstein Architect has won numerous design awards -- including last year's Remodeling Design Awards' Best of the Year -- for its work, which includes residential and commercial commissions in California, New York, Moscow, and Taipei.

John Rusk is the president and founder of New York-based Rusk Renovations, an award-winning residential general contracting firm founded in 1989. In addition to being involved in each of the company's projects, Rusk teaches residential project management at Columbia University and is the author of On Time and On Budget, a guide for homeowners on managing home renovations.

Erik Listou has five decades of experience as a building and remodeling professional and is the co-founder of the Living in Place Institute in Denver, an educational organization dedicated to increasing knowledge about home safety and accessibility. Listou has published numerous articles, produced/hosted his own talk radio and TV shows, and is co-authoring "How to Live in Place" with Living in Place Institute co-founder Louie Delaware.
