Conceptualized as the heart of a Washington, D.C., law office, this airy meeting room, designed by Anne Decker Architects of Bethesda, Md., maximizes space while providing a multi-functional place to convene. The room’s soft, neutral hues and natural surfaces, such as the blanched wood paneling, offset the steel Crittall windows and exposed ductwork to create a modern warehouse feel. In an effort to prevent noise reverberation, the designers suspended a drywall ceiling block with sound-absorbing qualities over the room’s wooden conference table. As a final detail, fixed white branch light fixtures were suspended from the overhead drywall to complement the room’s light, ethereal complexion.
