Rockwell unveiled four new Sonicrafter oscillating multi-tools. The new models feature an increased oscillating angle and more power. They also incorporate a more tapered and compact design and an increased accessory count for each tool.
According to the manufacturer, increased power and a greater oscillating angle mean the tool works faster, creates more aggressive cuts, and generates quicker results. The top of the line F50 (RK5141K) features a cutting angle of 5.0° and the F30 (RK5131K) a cutting angle of 4.0°.
The F50 is said to cut five times faster than the line's namesake, the Sonicrafter (RK5121K) and, according to Rockwell, features an industry-best maximum cutting load of 35 pounds. Meanwhile, the F30 features a cutting load of 30 pounds and the RK5121K features a 21 pound cutting load. The tools also offer electronic constant speed control which maintains the tool's cut rate under load. Rockwell's designers cut down on vibration created by an increase in oscillation angle by building in a counterweight to offset it.
The tools are compatible with Rockwell's Universal Fit accessory system, which enables all the tools under the Sonicrafter line to accept accessories from other brands without using adapters. The tools are fitted with the Hyperlock tool-less blade change system, which prevents accessory slippage by providing one ton of clamping force.
The country of origin for all the tools is China and the 20-volt max cordless version of the tool (RK2863K) will not be available until the fall.
