But beyond its distinctive styling, Blåkläder clothes offer standout functionality and durability, says this Swedish manufacturer that recently brought its 48-year-old brand to the U.S. The company describes its products as "functional workwear" aimed at solving common contractor challenges through features like specially designed (and plentiful) pockets, integrated kneepads, and durable materials and construction.
For example, exterior utility pockets available on several pant and short models provide easy access even in kneeling and squatting positions, and have angled corners that make it easier to fish out those last few nails or screws. The utility pockets can be tucked into front pockets when not in use. There are plenty of other storage options, including bellowed pockets that can hold more, a leg pocket with a pencil holder and security pocket, a phone pocket, and a webbed hammer loop. Kneepad pockets accept foam or gel inserts, eliminating the straps of traditional pads.
The company touts the durability of the workwear, with features such as triple-stitched seams, bar-tacked stress points, and Cordura-reinforced wear points and pocket linings.
The line also includes similarly constructed jackets, a fleece jacket and vest, and kangaroo vests. A work kilt, available in Europe, may also make its way to the U.S.
