A few weeks back I wrote about Blaklader work pants, but I've also been wearing the company's Two Fisted Fleece Jacket. I prefer it to the regular fleece I used to wear because it's resistant to wind and water, and has a number of construction-specific features designed into it...
The jacket is made from a 3-layer fabric — two layers of micro fleece with a wind and water resistant layer in between. Wear areas (at the arms and shoulders) are covered with Cordura to keep them from wearing through. The chest pocket is accessed through a vertical zipper on the outside left of the jacket, and is the perfect place to store my smart phone or wallet. On the right chest side is a vertical pocket with a Velcro flap. It's too narrow for a smart phone but will accept a standard cell phone or a pair of sunglasses. Among the other features of this jacket are thumb loops at the ends of the sleeves, zippered hand warmer pockets, and a zippered document compartment on the back.
The Two Fisted Fleece Jacket is very comfortable and I get a lot of compliments on how it looks. It might be different in a colder climate, but where I work I can get too warm wearing this jacket, so I usually wear it over a T-shirt. This jacket is not so water-resistant that it will keep you dry in heavy rain, but I recently spent a day wearing it in the drizzle and did not get wet.
I found this jacket for about $120 online. That's a lot for a work jacket but the Two Fisted Fleece is worth the price because it's comfortable and good looking, and seems like it will last a long time. It comes in two colors, black or gray and black.
