Construction delays cost money, but
you may not be able to get that
money back from the person who caused
the delay. That's because not every delay
is also a breach of contract.
For example, suppose the drywall sub
finishes hanging and taping the rock a
week late. Because of the delay, you had
to pay to store some cabinets that you
otherwise would have stored on site. This
extra cost does not necessarily mean,
however, that the sub has breached his
contract. If the contract simply called for
drywall installation with no specific time
frame, the drywall sub has fulfilled his
