In the spring of 2017, the National Nail company kicked off its CAMO Screw Off! competition, a series of deck fastening speed contests hosted by a number of different lumberyards that stock the CAMO deck edge-fastening system. After several rounds of competition that took place last summer and fall, the finals were held during the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association's LBM Expo, which was held last week in Providence, R.I. There, Otis Nelson, of Modern Roofing and Siding, in Ashland, Maine, beat out 28 other finalists to win a brand new Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Second place - a cash prize of $1,500 - went to David Orgain, of Birdseye Building Co., in Richmond, Vt., while Robert Smart, of Building Smart, in Freeport, Maine, placed third and Nathan Demers, of Perkins Quality Construction, in Middleboro, Mass., placed fourth. If you missed your chance to compete, the company announced in a press release that plans are already in the works for another round of competition.
