The salespeople at Kirk Development Co. carry S-video cables in their briefcases to connect laptops to client televisions on second and third sales calls.

This way, they can project 3-D schematics created in Chief Architect onto the larger screen and, they hope, into their client's hearts.

Gary Tomich, salesman/estimator at the Phoenix company, says using the TV can help the sale because it brings the design to life for clients who find it hard to visualize new space, new furniture placement, room design, or new cabinetry. If their TVs can't accommodate the cable, he falls back to his laptop.

Many computer or online stores offer S-video cables.
