The Los Angeles City Council voted on Tuesday to make "cool roof" materials mandatory on new and remodeled homes in the city, according to a report on the ThinkProgress website (see: "Los Angeles Becomes First Major City To Require 'Cool Roofs'," by Ari Phillips).
