Stabila had some new products of interest on display at the 2016 STAFDA show this past November – a couple of laser measurers: the LD-220 and LD-250, and a new series of extendable spirit levels: Type 80T.
The LD-220 is a simple distance measurer with four functions: length, area, volume, and continuous. It has a back-lit screen and can measure up to 100 ft. with accuracy of +/- 1/8”. According to Stabila, you can get up to 5,000 measurements on two full AAA batteries. It is available now and runs about $100 online.
The LD-250 (shown here) also has four functions: Length, area, volume, and continuous measurement. It, too, has a back-lit screen, but the range bumps to 165 ft. with an accuracy of +/- 5/64”. The LD-250 also includes Bluetooth technology for syncing to the “Stabila Measures” app on IOS and Android devices. The app allows you to transfer measurements directly into photos and drawings. This device is IP54 rated for dust and water resistance. According to Stabila, it too can run up to 5,000 measurements on two full AAA batteries. You’ll pay a little more than twice as much for the Bluetooth functionality, longer range, and improved accuracy. The LD-250 is running about $220 online with an expected delivery date of mid January.
The Type 80T levels, which have been available in Europe for nearly a year, are expected to be released to the U.S. market sometime in the spring or summer of 2017. The levels will be available in two lengths: 25” extendable to 41” and 36” extendable to 59”. Unlike the XtL Exact Length Levels, which house the extension arm in the bottom of the level, resulting in their being wider, the Type 80T extends from the back of the level, resulting in a smaller profile. Stabila says the 26"-41" level will cover most header sizes for doors. The 36"-59" will be more multi-functional. The extension arms on the Type 80T levels are lockable and provide a continuous scribe edge. Stabila intends for both levels to help window and door installers, as well as cabinet installers and millworkers. See the video, below, for a demonstration. Pricing TBD.
