Ridgid has introduced its first-ever line of 35 handheld corded, cordless, benchtop, and stationary power tools for contractors and other professionals. "Ridgid was looking to create a best-in-class brand of contractor-grade tools that contractors would want to use on the jobsite," says Bryan Whiffen, general manager of power tools for Ridgid. So the manufacturer conducted interviews with contractors across the country to assess work needs and challenges. The result is a line of durable power tools with features that, according to Ridgid, boost productivity and enhance user comfort.

"In almost every instance there is something that makes the tools different from every other item on the market," Whiffen says. For example, Ridgid's cordless tools feature the Rapid Max Twin charging system. The system's dual-port charger charges two high-capacity batteries at the same time in 30 minutes or two standard batteries in 20 minutes. Drills also sport auxiliary handles for user comfort.

Some of Ridgid's corded tools feature extended-life motors for use in extreme conditions where the tools are exposed to sawdust, metal, or concrete grit that infiltrate the motor housing and cause mechanical problems. "It's a unique motor that resists all the dust that tools ingest during use," Whiffen says. The motors are engineered to last up to five times longer than other motors, the maker says.

For increased comfort, all tools are overmolded on grip areas and also on points of impact to protect the tool. The manufacturer offers a 90-day satisfaction guarantee and a three-year warranty on all its power tools. Combo kits are available.
