For years, Simpson Strong-Tie's deck collapse demo was a staple at the Deck Expo. But this year, instead of showing what happens when a deck is built the wrong way, the company will team up with frequent PDB contributor Mike Guertin to present a series of live workshops called "Decks Done Right." The workshops, which will take place during the 2018 Deck Expo and Remodeling Show to be held October 9–11 at the Baltimore Convention Center on the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Md., will include tutorials and live demos right at the Simpson Strong-Tie booth. Topics that Guertin and SST engineer Scott Fischer will cover include Footings, Posts and Post-to-Beam Connections; Installing Ledgers Right; Lateral Load Options and Joist Connections; Guards: Posts, Rails and Balusters; and Stair Solutions.
