NAHB economist predicts stable
growth, stiff challenges
When David Seiders speaks, builders listen —
or at least they should. As chief economist
for the National Association of Home
Builders, Seiders analyzes the economy from a
builder's perspective, without glossing or cheerleading.
So contractors took special notice when Seiders
recently predicted that the present economy of moderate,
steady growth, low inflation, and low interest
rates will likely last through the decade. If he's right —
and he usually is — then the construction industry is
in the midst of what will be the longest expansion in
U.S. history.
