The manufacturer also says it decreases the time required to lay out accurately and—I love this part—makes it more enjoyable.

I don’t know about joy. If I had to lay out anything as complicated as a timber frame, I think that the use of all my brain cells at once might hurt. I can say this, it didn’t hurt this guy and the world’s timber-y-iest truck rack.
